The Reality of Using Electronic Games for Pre-school Children and its Relationship to Moral Intelligence

Playing has its role in developing and growing children's skills. It is observed that game nature has changed. Perhaps, thisis the result of a response to technological changes. It appears what is known as (Digital Game), which raised the concern of families and educationalists. The relation of playing to the moral side of the children is considered a fundamental aspect that cannot be ignored. Thus, this study aims to highlight the reality of the pre-school children's use of digital games and their relationship to their moral intelligence. The study adopted the descriptive-analytical method. A questionnaire is used to gather data from a sample of 280 individuals from the guardians of children at preschool age. The study is concluded with results that most of the sample allow their children to play digital games, own devices, use the Internet, and download applications. Results show that children prefer using tablets, followed by Xbox, then mobiles. Results also show that most children prefer thrilling and fun games, and most of them spend between 30 minutes to less than an hour daily during the weekdays in playing digital games. They spend around one hour to less than two hours in playing digital games during the holidays. In addition, boys spend longer time than girls in playing, while older children spend longer time than younger in digital games. As regards digital gaming's relationship to children's moral intelligence, results show that children enjoy a high degree of moral intelligence, in addition to the absence of significant correlation between the duration of digital play and the child's moral intelligence.
